Learning how to succeed at affiliate marketing with articles is a great way to start. Why?
Because article marketing is free! All it takes is a little time and energy, and you can have a great article campaign up in a few days with no cost to you.
I want to be clear on something though- you can’t just put together a bunch of junk, submit it to some great article directories, and expect the money to start rolling in. There are a few guidelines you should follow if you want to be successful:
1) Follow the rules! Article directories want good, solid content that’s not full of grammar or spelling mistakes, or unclean, unprofessional stuff.
2) Don’t just sell, sell, sell! Give your readers the answers they are looking for. Affiliate giant Josh Spaulding even recommends always imagining your friends and family as the only audience for your article. That will make you write great quality articles that really help people.
3) Even though article directories set minimums for the number of words you use, aim for the higher side. As long as you don’t fluff up your article, having more content is almost always better.
This shows that you know what you’re talking about and aren’t just trying to meet the bare minimums.
4) Target the right market. Sure you can target a very broad market and hope you get a few good hits, but chances are you’ll have a lot of difficulty getting the rankings on Google, so it will be harder for people to find your article.
Aim for a narrow, deep niche rather than a broad, shallow one.
5) Avoid linking straight to your product’s landing page. Instead create your own landing page to give them more information that you’ve collected on the product.
Even though direct linking can still work sometimes, every expert affiliate knows that creating your own unique landing page first to “pre-sell” will help immensely.
6) Don’t EVER give up! Lots of affiliate marketers give up after a short while because they didn’t achieve the overwhelming success they thought they would.
Give it time- if you quit, you’re giving up a great opportunity to ride the affiliate marketing wave of the future.
7) Remember WHY you’re starting affiliate marketing. Is it to help pay bills? Maybe your son is about to go to college and you need to help pay for it?
Either way, remembering WHY you want to make extra money will help prevent you from quitting, as you’ll keep the big picture in mind.
If you follow these guidelines you’re well on your way to becoming great at affiliate marketing with articles. Good luck!
