Web Marketing 101 - Getting Started

Selling on the web can be both fun and fascinating.  To start off, you have several choices.  The choice depends on your motivation and skill level.

• Technically advanced users like to do everything for themselves and love the challenge of building their sites from scratch.  It takes a bit more time to get started and making money quickly isn't their major goal.  They love the long term prospects of building everything from the ground up and controlling every aspect of their operations.  If you're one of these "A" types continue to read on.

If you don't already have a hosting site you will need to either buy a web hosting account or build your own web server from scratch.

Building a web server from scratch plus setting up the DNS does take time and a bit of technical skill.  Overall, you are going to want to get your site on-line as fast as you can.  Remember, time is money.

We're going to walk you through the process, however, keep in mind that while there are numerous ways to setup your site, we're going to keep it as simple as possible.

The first step in the process is to identify the name of your web site.  This is referred to as your Domain Name.  You will need a web hosting company where you can register your domain name plus Host your web site.
